Family! It's all that matters! Just a mention of the name brings up lots of great memories for many. When most of us visit people, we consider family, it always makes us feel fantastic. It's especially true for us during the holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
But why do we love celebrating with family and friends so much? After all, we could celebrate the holidays with other people in new places. Why is spending quality time with family so important? Here are a couple of reasons;
Once we leave home and head off to the world, we often lose ourselves in the day to day occurrences and challenges of life. It is, therefore, nice to come back to the embrace of the family during the holidays and re-acquaint ourselves with our roots.
Remember how much lighter it feels when you go home and discuss your life with your parents or siblings? That shows you the importance of spending holidays with your loved ones. It is a sure way to recharge and strengthen yourself for the hardships that you are likely to encounter in your daily life.
When you are with family, it is easy to let go and really enjoy yourself without feeling self-conscious. You end up feeling a sense of connection; you cannot get anywhere else.
During family gatherings, most people get to enjoy playing games and telling jokes like they did when they were young. Other fun family activities that we enjoy in family gatherings during the holidays include playing board games, watching home movies of special moments filmed when we were young, and entertaining each other with quirky performances.
It's no wonder many of us cannot wait to go home for the holidays like the upcoming Christmas time!
Most families have traditions that they cherish. For my family, it is going camping as a family in the mountains for a few days.
A family tradition does not have to be complicated. It merely has to bring the family together. Some other great examples of family activities include going on a road trip as a family, baking a family Christmas cake, or making some unforgettable eggnog for the Christmas party.
Do you have any such family tradition specially done during the holidays? Please share it with us in the comments.
Speaking of sharing, another reason why we love spending time with family during holidays is that we want to share good times with the people we love most in the world.
Often when something good happens to me, the people I think about sharing it with is family. That's because I love my family. And it is the same with most people.
That's why many of us can think of nowhere else we would rather enjoy holidays than with family. As we share fun times, we also end up creating lasting memories that comfort us in years to come.
The nature of family is that it grows. It is always a good idea to get acquainted with the people in our family tree. Having the support of a large family is essential for each and every one of us after all.
During the holidays, we get to meet and greet most of the family members that we don't have a chance of seeing during other days of the year. We also meet kids that have been born, making us uncles, cousins, or grandparents. And if there are any new in-laws, we can get acquainted with them too.
Here's a suggestion! This holiday, see how many new family members you can meet and have a good time with; you may be surprised at how many family members you are yet to meet that are great people.
These are a few reasons why it is essential to spend time with family during the holidays. Hopefully, they make you appreciate who you spend your holidays with.
Have you made plans to spend time with your loved ones this Christmas? If you haven't, maybe you should make plans to come together with your family and loved ones and see how amazing it can be.
