“Planning for the Holidays: How to have a great time with the Family”

December 09, 2019

Christmas is one of the favorite holidays every year not only because of the food, but because it brings family and friends together to enjoy a time of comfort, support and sharing our blessings with others. Let us enjoy the holiday while creating family fun activities that help them know and love this holiday for what it represents. This is a great tie to plan for this season and make it meaningful and memorable for the entire family.

It is easy to get overwhelmed with “To-Do” lists during this time and forget to plan activities with the family, which is why we suggest some activities that will keep your kids busy during the Holiday Season while you’re also making plans. There are great and pleasurable ways to do all these things together.

Christmas is celebrated in the world during the 25th day of December each year. It is in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the savior of mankind. It is also the time where people are preparing for family gatherings, year-end parties or Thanksgiving for all the blessings that they have received this year.

All parents alike will agree that the busiest and most enjoyable time of the year is Christmas. Planning the menu and decorations are significant to each household. That’s why it's also important to give attention to your children’s’ interest during this time.

Here are some awesome ideas that will make your kids’ Christmas break interesting and exciting:

  1. Let them play with toys that will keep them entertained while you are buzzing with your Christmas planning and decorations. It’s also great to introduce them to manipulative toys such as pull back cars, kitchen sets, plushies, dolls, and stuffed toys to recreate and promote real-life situations in an enjoyable manner. Slinky slime toys and clays are popular among kids in order to widen their imagination too far and beyond.

  1. Making simple arts and crafts will also teach them how to be creative and resourceful in their own little ways. It can also be a great family bonding time. Just simply dedicate an area of the house that can be quickly cleaned and let them have fun!
  • Slime making
  • Christmas ball craft
  • DIY Christmas Socks
  • Christmas Cards
  • Santa and reindeer puppets

  1. There are all sorts of board games that can sharpen their problem-solving skills and acquire new learnings. Kids will have a good time as well as the young at heart playing these games. These activities will surely leave unforgettable memories among the family especially this time of the year and can be incorporated as part of the family tradition.
  • Snakes and Ladder
  • Monopoly
  • Twister
  • Scrabble
  • Connect 4

Planning for the holidays might be a little stressful for parents but certain events can be exciting if all of the family members are willing to do their part. Parents could always make chores at home pretty enjoyable so that kids may also take part in them:

  • Decorating your Christmas Tree
  • Making Christmas cookies
  • Addressing gifts cards
  • Setting up the table
  • Putting away toys inside boxes
  • Supervised cooking

It is a pleasant experience for the family to beautify the house together with loved ones. Children are always eager to help with the decorations at home especially embellishing the Christmas tree.  It is also exciting to put glittering balls, colorful ribbons and animated ornaments on the tree that will surely tickle their artistic spirits. Wrapping gifts, adorning wreaths and hanging red socks that they decorate can be a way for them to participate during the festivities.

You can involve friends and neighbors to share these activities with you and your family as well and make this time even more amazing. Perhaps you already do some of these with your family, would love it if you share it with us and spark even more goodwill.

The spirit of Christmas is present in the air as each family celebrates it with love and happiness in their hearts.

 Merry Christmas!
